About

SAARC Disaster Management Centre (SDMC), Interim Unit has been set up under the premises of National Institute of Disaster Management & First Floor, NDCC-II Building. The centre has the mandate to serve eight Member Countries of South Asia Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka by providing policy advice and facilitating capacity building services including strategic learning, research, training, system development and exchange of information for effective Disaster Risk Reduction and management in South Asia. It carries out studies, research, organizes workshops and training programs, publishes reports, documents and provides various policy advisory services to the Member Countries.

 

Activities

Following activities are scheduled to be undertaken by the Interim Unit:

  1. SAARC Regional Training Programme on Landslide Risk Mitigation scheduled on 29th August -2 September 2016.
  2. SAARC Regional Training Programme on Flood Disaster Risk Management scheduled on 26th -30th September, 2016.
  3. SAARC Regional Training Programme on Coastal Zone Management for Disaster Risk Reduction scheduled on 21st -25th November 2016.
  4. South Asian Disaster Knowledge Network (SADKN)
  5. South Asia Disaster Vulnerability Atlas (DVA)
